The business session is held in the first part of the meeting followed by a morning tea break from 10.30 till 11.00am. It is the usual custom to have a guest speaker from 11.00 till 12.00 noon and at the close of the meeting members and guests can stay for a luncheon in the Royal Brighton Yacht Club dining room in a social environment.

Visitors are encouraged to attend the monthly meetings and also the monthly activities of interest prior to joining as a way of introduction to the fellowship of the Club.

Activities Of The Club

The Probus Club of Bayside has a range of activities to meet the needs of the members and these are regularly reviewed to ensure the Club remains vibrant and relevant.

The current monthly activities include:

Chat & Chew: Members meet at a local cafe twice a month for an informal chat.

Cinema Group: Members meet as a group at a local cinema to view selected and topical films followed where possible by a social tea/coffee.

Day Trips: Each month the activity leader researches day trips of interest such as historic homes and gardens, regions of interest within Victoria such as wineries, special industries etc. Comfortable coaches are hired with morning tea provided and lunches at various locations en-route.

Such day trips are generally subject to the numbers registered.

Dine-Outs: Throughout the year monthly dine-outs are arranged at local restaurants with a variety of cuisines and value for money. These are evening engagements turning to luncheons over the winter months. Many of our members participate in these dine-outs which offer wonderful fellowship opportunities for all members and guests.

Gardens and Galleries: A wide variety of gardens and galleries are visited throughout the year

Live Theatre: Each month the activity leader of this group selects a play of interest being staged by local production companies.

Mah Jongg: Members are always welcome at the monthly Mah Jongg meetings held at a local retirement village with newcomers and learners especially welcomed.

Sew'n Sew Group: For the ladies with a flair for sewing and needlework or for those who just wish to see the sewers at work there are monthly gatherings at a home and sometime visits to place of interest such as the Embroidery Guild or special exhibitions.

Walking Group: For the nimble and also those who are not so nimble walks of interest are arranged in the local area on a regular basis and these cater for those who want a serious walk or those who prefer something more gentle.

Extended Tours: Wherever possible the Club arranges an extended tour of approximately five days or more duration. These popular trips can be within Australia or overseas.
